DOOMSDAY CULT IN TEXAS?

Could it be another Heavens Gate cult here in north Texas? A large group of Taiwanese citizens who have moved to Garland say a message from God has called them there and a spaceship is ready to take them to heaven. Jung-Ching Hwuang is making a statement, reassuring the Taiwanese government that he is not part of a suicidal religious cult. Hwuang is just one of more than 100 Taiwanese members of an extreme religious group who have migrated to garland. The leader of the group is Hon Ming Chen. Chen purchased this house in the Ridgewood neighborhood to act as the Garland headquarters. In all, 21 families from God's Salvation Church based in San Demos, California are in Garland waiting for "God's spaceship to land on March 31st. It's a story very similar to the Heaven's Gate cult in San Diego in which members committed mass suicide. But members of this group say they are nothing like Heaven's Gate, they believe all life is precious and therefore would never commit suicide. Never the less the Taiwanese government fears the worst and so representatives based here in Texas were sent to see for themselves. Meanwhile, the last of the Taiwanese families continue to move into the Ridgewood neighborhood in hopes a spaceship from heaven will prove their journey was well worth it. The leader is in San Demos, California where his church is based. He's expected to return to Garland on Monday. He is scheduled to hold a news conference on Wednesday. The final number of members moving into the area will be just over a hundred.
